These books featured a folded accordion-style structure that could be extended to reveal an internal space when viewed through a hole in the front. By extending the folded sections and evenly positioning the cut-out cardboard, an internal space is created. "Mechanical books" were mainly produced in early 19th-century England and gained popularity. The cover is in the form of a book, and the contents connect the pictures in an accordion shape. When the accordion section is expanded and you look through the central peep hole, a three-dimensional landscape with depth appears. This is a particularly elaborate structure among the "mechanical books" of the time, and it vividly expresses the scenery inside the Crystal Palace of the 1st London World's Fair held in England in 1851.
