Ichimura Tanaka Art Collection: "Kuroshio no Gafu"

Ichimura Tanaka, a genius painter.
He was exceptionally skilled at painting from a young age, a child prodigy.
He was unable to navigate the social circles of the art world, such as flattering or currying favor with the leading figures. Disgusted with the art world, where those skilled in such social maneuvering thrived, he left the Kanto region.
He traveled south, eventually settling on the southern island of Amami, which he loved.
He passionately depicted the scenery of Amami in his paintings.
He continued to paint diligently, alone in his small hut.
He was never recognized during his lifetime, but became famous after his death.

This art book features the works that were showcased on the NHK program "Sunday Museum," which was the catalyst for his fame.

It is filled with wonderful paintings by Ichimura depicting Amami.
