We ventured west for an hour, deep into the BLM timberland encircling Portland's left side. Firebreaks and deadfalls swiftly replaced the city's traffic congestion and political chaos. FN and Leupold left us some gear, asking us to make the Pacific Northwest great again. We couldn't resist. As summer's last days yielded to autumn's rain, we celebrated the season's change. The FN SCAR 17's 7.62x51mm and Leupold Mark 5 made shooting steel targets a breeze. Despite the late-September heat, we dressed down for the open-air range. PTXF Core shoes let our feet breathe, while Kadre shorts' 4-way stretch chassis accommodated high knees and held our frontier essentials. Switching from SCAR to 509, and ending with a SAW, we enjoyed one last short-sleeved shooting spree before autumn arrived. Pure, fun, American.
